Our NEW Workshop is designed for the beginner through to intermediate photography enthusiast.
The first day focusses on photography theory and exploring the semi-automatic modes of your camera while the second day dives deeper into composition, lighting and is designed to have you shooting in Manual mode for a field trip later in the day!
Places in all Workshops are limited to 8 people. This is to ensure you get the most out of each lesson!

FOCUS on Photography Day 1
Our first day is designed to get you familiar with your Camera. This Workshop is designed for the novice to intermediate user, to help you understand the workings of your camera and some of the general principals in photography to get the most out of your kit. Designed to eliminate motion blur and over / under exposed images so you can effectively capture the image you are trying to.
The Workshop explores the different styles of photography, various settings of your SLR Camera and how to use ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed to produce the image you are aiming for. You will also learn a number of composition rules, basic lighting and shooting modes.
The Workshop runs for 6 hours and includes practical exercises with constructive feedback and an opportunity to meet other like minded people with a passion for photography, and the chance to ‘pick the brain’ of a professional photographer in a relaxed environment.
We cover topics such as:
- Explanation of the working parts of your SLR camera
- The different modes of your camera
- Photography styles
- Lighting
- Using ISO / Aperture/ Shutter Speed
- Various rules of composition

FOCUS on Photography Day 2
Day two runs slightly longer and concludes with a field trip to a great photographic location in the Narrabri Shire.
We go into greater depth and spend more time on each of the key learning areas, extending to MANUAL mode. The target audience is novice to intermediate photographers, with the aim of the Workshop to get you out of automatic shooting modes to have greater control of the DSLR Camera.
We cover a range of topics:
- More Photography styles
- Lighting
- More on using ISO / Aperture/ Shutter Speed
- Shooting in Manual mode
- More rules of composition
- HDR photography techniques
- Portrait techniques with artificial light (eg flash)
- Night shooting and various other forms of photography
- Photo editing in Adobe Lightroom (minimum trial period license recommended)
The 5th lesson is a field trip that allows you put into practice what you have learnt over the course of the day(s)
